Helm Legal Technologies, Inc. (“Helm Legal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the PREDICATE™ litigation platform available at helmlegal.net and related services. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information. By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, law firm name, and role when you request a demo or create an account
- Case data: documents, evidence, party information, and other litigation materials you upload to the platform
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns collected automatically
- Device data: browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers for security and compatibility
- Communications: emails, support tickets, and form submissions you send to us
How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the PREDICATE platform and its features
- Process demo requests, account creation, and customer support inquiries
- Send transactional emails (account confirmations, security alerts, service updates)
- Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve platform performance and reliability
- Detect, prevent, and respond to security incidents, fraud, and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations, court orders, and law enforcement requests
When We Share Information
- Service providers: cloud hosting (US-based), email delivery, payment processing — bound by data processing agreements
- Legal compliance: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or government regulation
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with advance notice)

How We Protect Your Data
- AES-256 encryption at rest for all stored data, including case files and documents
- TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit for every connection to and from our servers
- Role-based access control (RBAC) ensuring users only access authorized case data
- Immutable, append-only audit logs tracking every data access and modification event
- US-based data centers on SOC 2-certified infrastructure with no cross-border transfers
- Regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning
Your Rights
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information
- Deletion: request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in each email
- California residents (CCPA): right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale (we do not sell data)
- EU/EEA residents (GDPR): rights above plus right to restrict processing and lodge complaints with a supervisory authority
Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 90 days of account closure
- Case data: retained per your firm's configured retention policy, exportable at any time
- Usage and analytics data: retained in aggregate form for up to 24 months
- Security logs: retained for 12 months for incident investigation and compliance purposes
- Upon deletion requests, data is purged from primary systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days
Children's Privacy
- PREDICATE is a professional litigation platform designed for use by licensed attorneys and legal professionals
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18

AI & Case Data
PREDICATE uses AI-assisted features to help classify documents, identify patterns, and surface relevant evidence. Your case data is never used to train machine learning models. AI processing occurs within our secured infrastructure and is subject to the same encryption, access controls, and audit logging as all other platform operations.
Attorney-client privileged materials are automatically isolated from general search indexes and AI processing pipelines unless explicitly included by an authorized user.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date above. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice via email to the address associated with your account.
